Ex-Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda eludes police manhunt

Former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda eluded police manhunt for yet another day, as police intensified search to arrest him after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected. Gopal Kanda who is absconding to avoid arrest, is accused of abetting the suicide of a former woman employee Geetika Sharma. His residence and office in Sirsa have been raided in this connection.

In her suicide note Geetika (23), a former air hostess with Kanda’s MDLR airline alleged harassment by Kanda and MDLR official Chaddha, which she stated, drove her to committed suicide.

Though Kanda and Chaddha have denied the allegations, Kanda is absconding to avoid arrest, an act which points finger at him. Kanda had send a lawyer seeking more time but his anticipatory bail was rejected by a Delhi court, fearing that key evidence would be tampered with if he was not taken into custody immediately.

Meanwhile, National Commission for Women (NCW) has stepped into the matter and its chairperson Mamata Sharma met Geetika’s family and assured all help.
