The State government has announced ex gratia to the next of kin of those who died in the collapse of the City Light Hotel in Secunderabad.
According to the announcement made after the Chief Minister held an emergency review meeting on dilapidated buildings in the city, the victims’ families would get Rs 50,000 from the
‘Apadbandhu’ scheme and Rs 1 lakh from the GHMC. If there are any workers among the deceased, their families would get an additional Rs 7 lakhs. All the injured would be provided medical
aid under the ‘Arogya Sri’ scheme.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy held a review meeting on the ancient buildings in the city, immediately after the accident. He has directed the authorities to immediately identify all the
buildings in the city in a dilapidated condition and demolish them. Consequently, the government has decided to appoint a committee of officials to undertake this task. (NSS)
