Coimbatore, September 28: Former DMK Minister Pongalur Palanisamy, apprehending arrest in connection with land grab cases, today surrendered before a local court after obtaining anticipatory bail in the Madras High Court. After police registered two land grabbing cases, Palanisamy moved the Madras High Court and obtained anticipatory bail in both the cases. As directed by the High Court, Palanisamy surrendered before the Palladam Judicial Magistrate Court and agreed to abide by the conditions laid down by the Magistrate. The former Minister apprehended arrest after one Venkatesan of Tirupur lodged a complaint with Superintendent of Police, alleging Palanisamy, his son and others had grabbed his 15.6 acre of land worth Rs 1.74 crore. He said they paid an advance of Rs five lakh and the cheques issued by them for the balance amount bounced. Police after registering case, arrested Palanisamy s son Painthamizh Pari and former MLA A S Mani, while the Former Minister obtained anticipatory bail.
