Hyderabad, November 08: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to tighten the noose around late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s son and Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy with a key witness disclosing to the investigating agency the role played by the young MP in getting mining lease at Obulapuram in favour of Gali Janardhan Reddy.
Konda Reddy, former Congress MLA Varadarajula Reddy’s son, is believed to have told the CBI the way Jagan had coerced him to withdraw from the race to get the mining lease. According to sources, Konda Reddy had also applied for the mining lease to mine iron ore in 68 acres at Obulapuram in Anantapur. The government follows first-come-first-serve model for granting mining licenses. Konda Reddy is believed to have claimed to be the first among the applicants. However, Reddy is said to have told the CBI that Jagan had interfered in the mattered and forced him to withdraw from the race to ensure that Gali Janardhan Reddy gets the mining approval.
In fact, Konda Reddy had earlier filed a case against the state government pointing out the deviations in granting the license. However, he had taken back the petition for unexplained reasons.
Now, Konda Reddy is proving to be a key witness for the CBI to tighten the noose around Jagan in the illegal iron ore mining case. Jagan has been disowning Gali Janardhana Reddy and the mining activities. Though Jagan was summoned on November 4 by the CBI for questioning in the mining scam, he is believed to have reiterated that he had no link with mining baron Reddy.
