Mumbai: Former Bigg Boss contestant Hina Khan is no stranger to controversy. She was accused of rubbing several Bigg Boss housemates up the wrong away when she took part in the reality show last year. She continued to remain associated with a series of controversies because of social media posts even after she came out of the show.
Hina, who likes to flaunt photos of her daily escapades on Instagram, took to the photo-sharing platform on Thursday to post photos of her Raksha Bandhan celebrations with her brother Aamir Khan. While posting the photos, she wrote, “My brother, My buddy, This is our kind of sweet little moment to let each other know that “we are there” Happy Rakhee bro.”
In the photo, Hina was seen performing puja and following rituals to mark Raksha Bandhan. No sooner did she post the photos, she began to face trolling with many questioning her religious beliefs. Fearing that the trolling may spiral out of control, Hina decided to disable the comments section on her post stopping her followers from reacting to her Rakhi photos.
This is not the first time Hina has had to face incessant trolling from Muslim social media users, some of whom accused her of disrespecting their religion because of Hina’s alleged insensitivity. Last year in September, the TV actress had faced the fury of the same sets of people, who had targeted her in Ramadan. This was after she had posted a series of photos observing the Ganesh Chaturthi puja with boyfriend Rocky Jaiswal.
In June last year, religious zealots had targeted her for attending an iftar party by wearing ‘revealing’ clothes. Iftar culminates the dawn-to-dusk fasting for Muslims during their Holy month of Ramadan.
Hina had failed to win the Bigg Boss competition. Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain fame Shilpa Shinde had gone on to win the reality show.
