Wellington, April 15: New Zealand Cricket (NZC) today named former Australia coach John Buchanan as it’s new director and said that the 58-year-old will resume duty from May.
Buchanan will be in charge of the new high performance programme besides establishing a consistent coaching philosophy across the country. He will be responsible for implementation of a talent identification programme and will also oversee the selection panel.
“John’s appointment is an exciting one for New Zealand Cricket. He has a great cricketing pedigree and will provide outstanding leadership as NZC look to move forward,” said New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan.
Buchanan, who was at the helm of the Australian team for eight years during which they won three World Cup titles, said he was proud to be a part of the New Zealand cricket set-up.
