Ex AMU scholar-terrorist Wani refused to return, dies in encounter

New Delhi: Kashmiri students studying in Aligarh Muslim University has called for a condolence meeting for Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Mannan Wani who was gunned down by security forces yesterday.

The university on learning about the shocking development suspended 3 students along with issuing show cause notice to 4 other varsity students, TimesNow reports.

As soon as the news of Mannan’s encounter reached AMU, some students declared him a martyr and also tried to read namaz-e-janaza for him which further lead to a spat with the campus senior students.

“Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Manan Wani who was killed in Handwara encounter today was once a student at AMU, he was rusticated from the University. AMU has nothing to do with him now. Few students tried to hold a gathering today over his death, 3 students suspended,” AMU registrar Abdul Hamid told ANI.
Manan Wani was studying Applied Geology at Aligarh University and reportedly left the campus earlier this year to join the terrorist group.

It was only after some time his photograph holding AK-47 assault rifle surfaced on social media.

When the encounter of Wani reached Kashmir, separatist leaders supporters him.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti urged India to hold dialogue with all the stakeholders to bring peace in the valley.

Separatist leader and founder of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has appealed people in the valley to observe complete shutdown to pay their respects to their martyred Wani.
