EVM will be used for casting votes: Election Commission

New Delhi: Despite the intensive demand by the opposition, Election Commission has made it clear that the general elections and assembly elections will be held using the electronic voting machine, however, it assured that security will be beefed up so that there will be no chance of complaint. Preparations have begun for general elections 2019. Besides political parties, Election Commission has also begun preparations.

While taking stock of the situation, Chief Election Commission made it clear that elections will be conducted using EVMs. It also informed that only armed police force will be deployed at the centres and guards of private security agencies will not be allowed. The election commission said if needed help of home guards can only be taken.

It must be noted opposition had been complaining that EVMs are vulnerable to fraud and are tampered and the benefit goes to BJP hence instead of EVM ballot paper should be used in elections.

Besides Congress, BSP, SP, NCP, CPI and other opposition parties had urged Election commission of India to stop using EVM and start using Paper Ballot like many countries did.
