Hindu outfits took out Shobha yatra rallies in connection with Sri Rama Navami. The participants shouted inciting slogans. Shobha yatra started at 11:30 am from Rani Avanti Bai Community Hall, Dhoolpet, Mangalhat and it reached Huanuman Vyayam Shala, Sultan Bazar at 11:30 pm. Police had made elaborate arrangements for shobha yatra in view of Friday prayers. DCP of West Zone, Mr. G. Sudheer Babu stopped rally at Dhoolpet. Raja Singh Municipal Corporator of Mangalhat tried to take the rally further but the DCP blocked the rally by putting his car in front of it. After the Friday prayer, rally was allowed to proceed.
At Begumbazar Crossroads, International Vice President of VHP Mr. Jagannath Sahi (UP) made an inciting speech and said that Baber had constructed a mosque in Ayodhya after dismantling a temple. He also said that Ram Mandir would be constructed in Ayodhya at the same place.
He further said that every Hindu should try to make Narender Modi Prime Minister of India so that the flag of BJP could be hoisted at Red Fort in New Delhi. At many places in South and West Zones, Saffron flags were hoisted. The processionist tried to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the city by shouting inciteful slogans. The activists of shobha yatra were putting tilaks to the participants as a mark of identification so that no new person could enter the rally. Late at night, the rally turned into a public meeting at Hanumna Vyayan Shala at Sultan Bazar.
