Every child should be sent to school: CM

Hyderabad, November 11: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today launched the “Rashtra Vidya Chaitanya Uthsavalu-2011” on the occasion of the 123rd birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad at the People’s Plaza, Necklace Road here. He told the large gathering of students, teachers and parents that Knowledge is power and hence it is our bounden duty to see that every child goes to school and are educated.

The Chief Minister said, “Once you are properly educated, your future is assured and you can live on your own. To fulfil the dreams of great visionaries like Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, who was first Education Minister of India, we should see that every child goes to school. Parents should understand that there is no other alternative other than educating their children”. He told the students and parents that they should learn whichever subjects they are interested and come up in life.

The Chief Minister recalled that the State government had launched many initiatives in the Education sector, particularly in the rural areas. During Education Fortnight, many infrastructure facilities, particularly for schools, were inaugurated, he said, adding that by seeing the hundreds of students assembled at People’s Plaza, he remembered his good old days in his school. “This is the best part of your life. Enjoy the student life to the maximum. Be happy. You have no worries like us. You are free of tensions. Hence you all must enjoy the student life”, he added.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated Exhibition stalls on the “Rashtra Vidya Chaitanya Uthsavalu-2011” organised by the Rajiv Vidya Mission and released balloons to mark the occasion. He also garlanded the portrait of late Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and lit a lamp to inaugurate the Education Festival. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s message was read out on the occasion. The Chief Minister released posters, pamphlets, CDs on the One Year’s programme on “Rashtra Vidya Chaitanya Uthsavalu”.

Minister for Primary Education & SSAs, Dr S. Sailajanath also spoke. MLC B V Mohan Reddy, MLAs Jogi Ramesh and C. Rajesh, Principal Secretary, Primary Education & SSA, Chandana Khan, Director & Commissioner, School Education, Shiva Shankar, State Project Director, Rajiv Vidya Mission, Chandra Vadan and other officials were present. Awards were given to outstanding MEOs, MRPs, IERTs and meritorious girls of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) ( 11 of them secured admission into IIITs).
