Evening shower for Bangaloreans

Unexpected showers in the City on late Tuesday evening brought a relief to Bangaloreans from scorching summer heat.

Up to 11.30 pm the City recorded 8.8 mm of rainfall whereas KIAL (up to 5.30 pm) and HAL airport (up to 11.30 pm) had received 5.6 mm and 21.7 mm rainfall, respectively.
The City recorded a maximum temperature of 33.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22.4 degrees Celsius.

A few trees were uprooted in some parts of the City following the downpour.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in the City and State for the next two days.

As said by the IMD Bangalore Director B Puttanna, conditions are favorable and the monsoon is advancing.
“There is a low-pressure area over east central Bay of Bengal and there is an upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above sea level in Bay of Bengal.

In Karnataka, there is a trough of low pressure at mean sea level moving from the north to south which is also bringing more rainfall. There is also an upper air trough extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level which is embedded with cyclonic circulation over south interior Karnataka,” he said.

He further said that under the influence of these systems, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over south interior and coastal Karnataka for the next 48 hours. The rainfall could measure up to 65 mm.
