Even Father of the Nation wasn’t spared; Mahatma Gandhi statue painted saffron in UP

Shahjahanpur: Some miscreants painted the statue of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi in Saffron colour. Getting furious on the move, Congress demanded action against the miscreants. Officers sprung into action as soon as the video became viral. SDM rushed to the spot and met the village Pradhan and sought clarification.

According to sources statue of Mahatma Gandhi was painted in saffron colour in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur. The incident was reported from Ghanshyampur under Banda police area. Usually, Mahatma Gandhi’s statute is painted in white.

Congress district president Kaushal Misra raised the issue and said that since the BJP formed the government, the great leaders’ statues are desecrated. He asked, what message do the killers of Mahatma Gandhi want to give by painting the statues in saffron?

Meanwhile, as soon as the video went viral, SDM Powayan reached the spot with his force on Thursday and asked village Pradhan Gayatry Jeswar about the statue. Pradhan told that Primary school headmaster Himanshu had painted the statue in 2015, since then it is in the same colour.
