European stock markets slide further at open

London: European stocks slid further at the start of trading Thursday following sharp losses the previous session.

London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index lost 0.8 percent to 6,868.19 points, having slumped 1.4 percent Wednesday.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX 30 shed 1.3 percent at 11,053.58 points and the Paris CAC 40 lost 0.9 percent to 4,898.35.
