Finance and Civil Supplies Minister E Rajender today said that the government is committed for providing benefits to Hamalis and ration dealers in terms of essential commodities. He addressed a review meeting at Secretariat with officials here and said that a meeting with Hamali workers on Thursday will address related problems. He instructed the officials to ensure that the Hamalis and ration dealers get benefit from the department. We are able to set right 85 per cent of the issues in the department and will achieve 100 per cent results he said.
`The government is in favour of resolving the issues of ration dealers by offering work and food and see no weight loss of the grains supplied to them. E-Pass machines could check illegal rice exports in the department he said and asked to set up permanent weighing machines at godowns. He directed the commissioner to hold second round of talks with the dealers to settle the issues. Rajender also instructed the officials to make a trip to Delhi to get pending arrears from the Centre. The department was asked to prepare guidelines to encourage rice exports as is being done in the case of Tamil Nadu. Rajender also instructed the officials to implement policies for the cause of the poor. Let there be no poverty and hunger problem in the state he added.(NSS)
