ESSO-Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (ESSO-INCOIS), located in Hyderabad, provides several special services such as Tsunami Warnings (which serves 27 countries in the Indian ocean), Potential Fishing Zone advisories to help fishermen to locate fishing grounds at sea, Ocean State forecasts and High wave alerts for coastal residents and seafarers, Coral bleaching alerts for environmental monitoring, etc. The Centre is also part of the special international Argo Programme and hosts the National Ocean Data Centre and the International Training Centre for Operational Oceanography.
ESSO-INCOIS operates under aegis of Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES, GoI). MoES will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on July 27, on which an Open Day has been organised at INCOIS. We would like to invite members of the public i.e families, interested individuals etc., for a walk-thru’ visit during Open Day on July 27 from 9.30 am to 5 pm
A separate Poster Exhibition on campus will remain open for public viewing from July 27 to August 2 (0930 to 1700 Hrs.)
Also, specifically on July 27, an interactive tour programme for schools/colleges has been organized for which pre-registration thru’ email is mandatory. (Pre-registration is already underway)
