Erode,August 15: Erode and its surrounding areas experienced heavy rain on Thursday night and the area recorded 64 mm of rainfall in an hour from 10 p.m.
Bhavani received 17 mm, Sathyamangalam 15 mm, Gobichettipalayam 14 mm and Perundurai 4 mm. Other areas of Vellode, Chitode, Kavindapady, Pallipalayam and Arachalure also experienced rainfall.
Due to the rain, traffic was paralysed in Surampatty four road junction, Brough Road, Municipal Colony junction and Municipal Market area. The water receded only this morning.
