Eradication of poverty impossible without education

Hyderabad, January 22: Mentioning the importance of education, Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy told that the Govt. has implemented many welfare schemes but poverty could be eradicated only through education. He was addressing a gathering organized by M.V. Foundation. Education is the only medium through which poverty could be eradicated.

If the level of literacy is increased, the shape of the state will automatically be altered. He mentioned that in the beginning of the academic year Govt. admitted 1.6 lakh children into the schools but 30 thousand children still remain outside the school.

He informed that 30 thousand teachers would be recruited. He also said that 737 model schools were set up and Rs. 2,200 crore were spent on the construction of school buildings. 357 girls’ hostels were sanctioned and each hostel was allotted Rs. 1.37 crore.

The CM mentioned the fees reimbursement scheme to students and said that Rs. 3,500 crore were allocated for this purpose to benefit 27 lakh students. He lamented that a large sum of this scheme is being spent on engineering branch the result of which is only 28%.

He mentioned that Govt. has issued notification for the recruitment of 1.6 unemployed youths.
