Era of BJP coming to an end: Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, Nov. 8 : Congratulating the ‘ Mahagathbandhan’ for its victory in Bihar, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said it is a clear indication that the era of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is coming to an end. He also said that this poll victory is a clear defeat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah.

“It is a clear indication that era of BJP is ending, as in Delhi they lost, in Bihar they lost. The people don’t want any communal agenda in this country because they want unity in diversity. It is a clear defeat of Modi ji and Amit Shah, as only these two were projected in Bihar and no other state leaders were projected, not even Sushil Modi,” Siddaramaiah told ANI here.

Siddaramaiah said this Bihar election was projected as a political war between Modi ji and Nitish Kumar, and Nitish Kumar has won this battle.

“Nitish Kumar has won in this battle and Nitish Kumar has done a lot of developmental work in Bihar. This election was projected as a political war between Modi ji and Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar has won in this battle. So ultimately the people have accepted the secular party and the leadership of Nitish Kumar and leadership of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress Party. I congratulate Nitish ji, Lalu ji, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi for this victory,” he added.

“All these issues (like beef issue) led by BJP has been rejected by the people of Bihar because they know Nitish Kumar. He was there as chief minister for 10 years and he has got a clean image. And whatever communal issue the BJP has got, is only to polarise the vote in this election, which the people of Bihar did not accept,” said Siddaramaiah.

The Party wise breakdown after 10 rounds of counting shows RJD with 74 seats, JDU with 69, BJP with 63, INC with 15, LJP with five, RLSP with four, HAM with three, CPI with two and others with six seats.

Meanwhile, putting up a brave face, the BJP branded the comeback by the Grand Alliance as ‘interesting’ and said they were ready to accept whatever was the mandate by Bihar.

Earlier, however, the BJP-led alliances had taken the lead in the trends and celebrations had already begun in the BJP offices in Patna. (ANI)
