Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal, IAS, has said the Election Commission of India has given certain directions to take up an innovative scheme to link (seed) EPIC with Aadhar card to weed out duplicate cards in the GHMC limits and it is one of its kind so far this type of scheme has not been introduced in any State in the Country.
The CEO said the Project being aimed duly linking EPIC with Aadhar Card as the Aadhar scheme has been taken up more effectively and also 90 to 95 per cent have been covered in the entire Country for which the linkage will be helpful in getting enrolled of more voters in the GHMC limits. He further stated that 2.63 crore voters are in Telangana State and where as 81.54 lakhs in GHMC limits.
The CEO, Hyderabad and Medak Collectors, Special Commissioners, GHMC, Additional Commissioner (Elections) along with all the EROs and AEROs held a review meeting for the implementation of the innovative scheme in the GHMC limits with immediate effect. The CEO interacted with all the officials of GHMC and had a patient hearing and directed the Additional Commissioner (Elections) to take up a training program to all the EROs and AEROs at Harihara Kala Bhavan, Secunderabad on Tuesday and also to take up training programs to all the Booth Level Officers duly explaining them their role to play for deriving better results to enrol cent percent in the existing electoral rolls. He instructed the Commissioner, GHMC to take up this innovative scheme in all the 24 Assembly Constituencies in a time bound manner and further directed that GHMC has to play a vital role for implementing the scheme as this type of scheme has not been taken up by any State in the Country so far.
The Commissioner, GHMC said that GHMC will take up this innovative scheme on war-footing basis and the existing electoral roll list will be taken care properly for deleting duplicate, shifted, died, migrated people and all other voters duly linking up with Aadhar card data base. The Commissioner said that in 3 to 4 constituencies 4 teams will be deployed as a preliminary one and keeping in view of the results the innovative scheme will be implemented in all the Assembly Constituencies in a span of 5 to 6 days. The Commissioner said Babu, Special Commissioner, GHMC has taken up the Aadhar scheme with his help this scheme can be implemented in a more effective manner. (NSS)
