Communist Party of India (Marxist) recorded a strong protest against the entry of Israeli Universities in India.
It had already warned against holding Indo-Global Summit at Taj Deccan Hotel in Hyderabad. Police arrested the CPI (M) activists who were proceeding towards the meeting place. Police arrested Mr. P.Madhu, former M.P, Mr. Abdul Ghafoor, former MLC and a large number of workers and shifted them to various police stations using fore. The subsidiary of CPI (M) Awaaz and othert similar organizations also participated in the protest.
Defending the protest, Mr. Madhu and Mr. Abul Ghafoor told that Govt. wants to crush the peaceful protest by using force.
They told that police is dancing to the tunes of the Govt. The countries which sabotaged the primary education system in Palestine and still continuing bloodshed can’t be expected to do anything better to improve our education system.
To invite the Imperialist System of education amounts to destroying our value based education system.
They criticized the Central Govt. for developing relations with Israel. They demanded Israel to withdraw from the lands of the Palestinians and stop killing the innocent people of Palestine. The fundamentalist Govt. in India wants the intervention of Israel in this country on some pretext or the other. They expressed their apprehensions that our country will come under the domination of Israel in the field of education, which will ruin our country.
The leaders who participated in the agitation included Vice President of ‘Awaz’ Committee Mr. Ashraf Ali, Mr. Sattar, Mr. Abid Ali and Ms. Arun etc.
