Entrusting encounter probe to SIT a bold move: Forum

The Forum to Support KCR hailed the decision of the TRS Government to entrust the reported encounter killing of Viqaruddin Ahmed and his four associates in Alair of Nalgonda district on April 4 to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) as a “correct and bold” move to bring to light the true facts about the incident.
Chairman of the Forum Konda Lakshma Reddy, former MLA, in a statement said by entrusting the investigation into the alleged encounter, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has amply proved that as head of the State he would not allow room for suspicion in the minds of the people with regard to any action by the police force. KCR once again exhibited his sincerity to bring to light the facts and thus put an end to any further controversy with regard to the incident, they observed and added that it would also silence the Opposition from politicizing the issue.

It may be mentioned here that apart from the family members of the deceased militant Viqaruddin, civil rights organizations, AIMIM and Congress parties have expressed doubts about the police claim of gunning down the militants in an encounter and even alleged that it was pre-planned and pre-meditated murder to eliminate the victims whose trial was coming to an end.
The Forum leaders felt that since the state government had come forward in entrusting the investigations to SIT and had even constituted a six-member team headed by Inspector-General Sandeep Shandilya, all those having any misgivings about the alleged encounter, especially the opposition parties, should allow the probe to take place without making any more controversial statements with regard to the incident.
