Ensure persecuted non-Muslim refugees are protected: RSS Chief

Silchar: Ensure Non-Muslims refugees who have fled religious persecution in Pakistan and Bangladesh on or before December 31, 2014 are exempted from the provisions of Foreigners Act said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

The RSS Chief had a close-door meeting with Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal at RSS office in Silchar on Saturday, TOI reports.

The meeting was centered on protecting foreign non-muslims refugees who escaped Pakistan and Bangladesh and Centre’s proposal to reintroduce Citizenship Bill 2016 in order to protect Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Parsi and Buddhist refugees excluded from the National Register of Citizens, sources said.

The RSS asked CM Sarbananda to these refugees are exempted from the provisions of the Foreigners Act in accordance with a Union home ministry notification issued on September 7, 2015.

The much-awaited Assam NRC has left out 19 lakh people, a major non-Muslims.

RSS, BJP and various other Sangh Parivar affiliates are now making efforts to protect these non-muslim migrants.

Bhagwat and several BJP leaders have said on various occasions that the 2015 home ministry notification should be followed till such time the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is passed in Parliament.
