Ensure essential supplies during festival: CM

Hyderabad, October 06: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday directed the officials to see that all essential supplies and emergency services are maintained so that the common man is not put to any inconvenience, particularly during the festival days. He asked the officials to constantly monitor the situation to help the people to the maximum possible.

The Chief Minister reviewed the latest situation arising out of the strike in Telangana area at Secretariat. He said peace and harmony should be maintained. The Chief Minister wanted the Civil Supplies Department to stock the subsidised rice in sufficient quantities in the ration shops. He also asked the Transport Department to run as many contract and private buses as possible along with the RTC services plying in the State.

Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha, Labour Minister Danam Nagender, Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, DGP V Dinesh Reddy and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister has asked the Agricultural department officials to ensure proper supply and distribution of fertilizers and not to give scope for any black marketing and to monitor closely. The officials said that more or less khariff season is over and 30% of fertilizer stocks for ensuing Rabi season are being positioned in the districts. They have also informed that good rains reported in Rayalaseema area and some showers in some parts of Telangana.

The Chief Minister has asked the officials to take stern action against those for dereliction of duties in health sector which are notified under emergency services. The Officials said that only three deaths reported due to dengue fever so far and awareness campaign is being commenced from 7th to 17th of this month. The Officials stated that emergency services in area hospitals, Gandhi, Osmania and MGM hospital, Warangal running as usual and the inpatients admissions dropped to 1/3rd of normal days due to the agitation. The APSRTC officials informed that 800 buses were operated in Hyderabad and 30 buses were also plied in Khammam district. Inter-State private buses are running as usual.

The Officials said that 100 per cent stocks subsidized rice and other civil supply stocks for October were positioned in the Fair price shops in entire Telangana area. The Chief Minister has instructed to ensure proper timely distribution to the consumers in view of the festive season.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that sufficient stocks i.e. for 7 to 10 days, were kept in the depots and there is no problem even if the excise staff are on strike. They have also informed that the dealers lifted Rs.108 crore stocks in Telangana area and Rs.17 crores stocks in entire Andhra area were lifted for next 4 days i.e. the ensuing Dusserah season. The sanitation, garbage lifting and water supply and other emergency services in G H M C, Municipal areas and Panchayat areas are running as usual.

Officials explained to the Chief Minister that due to the Sakala Janula Samme, the RTC has been losing Rs 8 crore per day. In the 10 Districts (11 Regions of APSRTC) of Telangana Area strike is being observed from September 19 by various Telangana Forums of various unions of APSRTC. There are 89 Depots in the 11 Regions of Telangana Area. There are 10,124 buses in Telangana Regions. 84.23 Lakhs of passengers are being carried per day on an average in Telangana area including Hyderabad City. About 58,000 employees are participated in the strike.

Due to strike from September 19 till October 04, the corporation has sustained a loss of Rs.124 Crores for 12 days. On an average 750 buses per day are operated in the strike period. On Wednesday, it operated 800 buses and on average 2297 employees have attended for duties. Every day on an average 1000 buses are being operated to Hyderabad city from other districts of Andhra and Rayalaseema. During strike period only 100 buses are coming to Hyderabad city.

Special buses are being operated to Hi-Tech city. Due to constant persuasion, services are being operated gradually in KMM Region. Efforts are on to operate buses in NZB Region also. In Hyderabad City the buses have started operating from FM, RNG-1 & RNG-2 Depots. 511 Hire Buses are pooled from Telangana Districts and they are being operated in the Hyderabad city from Mahatma Gandhi Bus station and Jubilee Bus station as base of operation. It is also proposed to pool another 500 Hire buses to increase the total number of Hire buses to 1000.
