Ensure 7-hour power supply to farmers, demands Jana Reddy

Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy on Saturday demanded that the State Government ensure seven hours of power supply to the farmers during Rabi season.

Speaking to media persons along with TPCC Working President Uttam Kumar Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan here, Jana Reddy said that the although the TRS, in its election manifesto, promised nine hour power supply, it failed to honour its promise during Khariff season. He said Telangana farmers suffered huge losses due erratic power supply and many of them committed suicide. To prevent further suicides and losses, he demanded that the government take steps on war-footing basis to ensure at least seven hour power supply to farmers during Rabi.

Jana Reddy also demanded that the State Government provide irrigation water to Nalgonda and Khammam districts through Nagarjuna Sagar. He warned Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of strong protest if he creates hurdles in supply of water from Nagarjuna Sagar dam. He also accused Naidu of creating hatred among the Telugu speaking people to achieve his political goals. (INN)
