Enrollment-drive under RSBY may begin next week in Mysore

A one-day workshop on Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY)– a Ministry of Labour and Employment’s one-year-old health initiative for the BPL families, in a bid to educate Panchayat Development Officers, Grama Panchayat Secretaries and Asha Workers, was conducted here by the District Administration’s Labour Department in association with The New India Assurance Company, Mysore, on February 22.

The workshop was an attempt to enlighten the workers on the enrolment process of the schemes to be started from the next week in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Venkatesh Siddihatti, Asst. Commissioner, Labour Department pointed that as many as 53,33,12 families have been identified for the scheme, comprising of 27,93,600 members. “The scheme provides cover for hospitalization expenses upto Rs. 30,000 for a family of five on a floater basis. Transportation charges are also covered upto maximum of Rs. 1,000 with Rs. 100 per visit,” he added.

While 59,616 families have been identified in Periyapatna, 61,242 families will be benefitted under the scheme in Hunsur. As many as 58,873 families in K R Nagar, 90,100 families in Mysore, 79,411 families in H D Kote, 94,520 families in Nanjungudu and 79,350 families in T. Narsipura are eligible for the scheme.

The beneficiaries falling under BPL, whose names will be included in the BPL list prepared by the state government, will be asked to visit the near enrolment center. “The workers will visit their homes and hand over them a token which will provide them with all necessary information regarding the enrolment center,” says Venkatesh. The each family, however, have to pay an amount of Rs. 30 during the time of enrollment.

People coming under the scheme, after the enrollment process, will be given with a smart card which they have to use to in the selected hospitals.

The workshop was held for the first time since the insurance company has been changed. The scheme now will be handled by New India Ansurance Company, Mysore which earlier was looked by Tata AIG. The responsibility of TPA has been given to Medicare TPA Services.Courtesy:Karnataka Muslims
