Enough funds available for Telangana drinking water scheme: Rao

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said different financial institutions have already agreed to provide a loan of Rs 22,000 crore for implementation of the government’s prestigious ‘Mission Bhagiratha’ scheme.

Another Rs 8,000 crore of loan is expected to be given to the scheme, which aims at providing piped drinking water to every household in the state, he said.

Rao, who held a review on the implementation of the programme with officials, said it should be completed by December 2017.

Expressing satisfaction on the progress so far, he told the officials to see that works are completed expeditiously as there is no shortage of funds for the scheme, a release from his office said.

He took stock of the progress of the programme and discussed various aspects of it, the release added.
