Hyderabad, March 30: Commissioner Task Force west zone team apprehended a youth resident of Mallepally who cheated lakhs of money from engineering students by promising them that he would help them clear their backlogs of their examinations.
Deputy Commissioner Police Task Force Mr. V V Kamlasan told that Basheer Khan (28) from New Mallepally was introduced to some of the engineering students of Deccan Engineering College, Darussalam by their college-mate Imran and one Firasat.
Police told that Basheer claimed before many students that he could ‘manage’ the Osmania University authorities and make them clear all their backlogs as he was connected to the engineering faculty.
He demanded Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000 per paper. This way, Basheer lured several students of the Deccan Engineering College, MJ Engineering College and Chaitanya Bharti Institute of Technology and collected money from them.
However when the results were announced, all the students were failed. They asked him to repay their amount.
Initially Basheer kept assuring them to pay back the money. Finally he resorted to black mailing and threatened them that since their hall-tickets were with him, he would darken their future. He warned them of dire consequences and also issued threats over phones.
On receiving the report Commissioner Task force west zone team arrested Basheer Khan and handed him over to Habeebnagar PS for further action.
