A 22-year-old engineering student was stabbed to death allegedly by his juniors at a private university on Jaipur-Delhi national highway near Jaipur, police said today.
Prashantveer, a B.Tech third year student of the Amity University, was thrashed and later stabbed with a knife allegedly by his juniors following an altercation over some issue last night, they said.
Prashantveer hailed from Uttar Pradesh and was staying at the university hostel.
The police have detained four students in connection with the incident.
The university authorities, however, said the incident had not affected the normal activities at the campus.
“Four of our students have been detained by police. They are looking into the matter… As far as functioning of the university is concerned, it is normal,” said Savita Mehta, vice-president (communications) of the university.
She said a condolence meeting was also organised today in memory of the deceased student.
