Engineering student kidnapped, killed

Bangalore, January 22: A first year engineering student was kidnapped, murdered and his body was dumped in a eucalyptus grove by his friend and other three persons at Attur Layout in Amruthalli police limits.

The police have arrested four persons including two women in this connection and the accused were identified as Warish (21) of Patna, Rohit Kumar (24) of Jharkhand, his wife Shivani Thakur (22) and her sister Preeti alias Apoorva (19) from Agra.

According to the police, Tushar (21), a student of Sri Krishna Institute of Technology and a resident of Patna was kidnapped on January 14.

The police said Tushar was a close friend of Warish, who was from the same college. Police said he allegedly hatched a plot to kidnap Tushar to make easy money. He convinced Rohit, a real estate agent, to kidnap Tushar and asked Rohit to use his his wife to lure Tushar, for which Rohit agreed.

The police said Shivani Thakur, a bargirl, got in touch with Tushar and on January 14, she took him to home where Warish killed Tushar by smashing a bottle on his head. The next day, they dumped his body in an euclyptus grove near their house and on January 16, the accused called Tushar’s father Pramod Mehta, a contractor in Patna, and demanded a ransom of `8 lakh.

Meanwhile, Pramod rushed to the city and lodged a complaint with the police, who swung into action and as per Warish’s direction, they sent Pramod to the city railway station and caught the accused.

During interrogation, the accused accepted to the crime and guided the police to the spot where Tushar’s body was dumped.

An autopsy was conducted on the victim’s body at Ambedkar College of Medical Sciences on Friday and was handed over to his family members.

Speaking to Express Amit, Tushar’s brotherinlaw, said Tushar had called them on January 13 and said that he would meet them in the coming vacation.
