Engineering student jumps into reservoir, dies

Hyderabad, January 07: An engineering student, who had been suffering from health problems, committed suicide by jumping into a reservoir at Rajendranagar.

Cyberabad police said that the second year engineering student P Kranthi (21) left his residence at Premavathipeta Nagar telling his parents that he was going to his college in Moinabad. But around 11.30 a.m, Kranthi went to the Hussainsagar reservoir and jumped into it.

“Kranthi jumped in even when several people could see his movements from a distance. But since they did not expect him to jump into the reservoir, they did not suspect his intentions,” Rajendranagar police said.

The student’s body was recovered by the police later and they did not find any suicide note. “However a small drenched note recovered from his pocket read, ‘please don’t save me’,” police said.

Kranthi’s family members said that he had been mentally disturbed since the last several months and this could have led him to take the extreme step. Rajendra Nagar police registered a case under Crpc 174 (suspicious death).
