Hyderabad, October 11: Seats for aspirants of engineering courses, who gave options in the second phase of web counselling which ended on Saturday, would be allotted tomorrow. The details of allotment would be made available on the website, www.apeamcet.nic.in Availability of a large number of engineering seats and discontent over allotments made during the first of the counselling have prompted a whopping 62,000 candidates to appear for the second phase.
Officials are confident that all the 56,000 vacant seats available under the convener quota will be filled up in the second phase going by the overwhelming response. The huge turnout for the second phase also indicates that many students are hoping to get a seat in their preferred branch and college in this phase.
In addition to about 52,000 candidates who were allotted seats during the first phase, 2,224 candidates who did not even attend the verification of certificates appeared for the second phase and declared their options for admission.
Another 8,000 candidates who appeared for verification of certificates during the first phase of counselling but did not exercise their options, participated in the second phase.
Officials said most of the students were apprehensive about getting admission in a course and college of their choice during the first phase. But due to availability of a large number of seats now, they returned to try their luck during the second phase of the counselling.
“There is a likelihood of aspirants getting a seat in their preferred branch and college, officials said. It may be recalled that only 1.48 lakh seats were filled against 1.8 lakh seats in 652 engineering colleges during the first phase leaving about 43,000 seats vacant.
Another 9,000 seats were added in the second phase following sanction of new seats and colleges.
