Engineering counseling likely to be put-off

Hyderabad, July 11: State’s government plan to begin EAMCET counseling within one week is washed away owning to data full of errors presented by All India Council for Technical Education regarding affiliation of colleges and extra seats. Colleges have complained that they have been allotted extra seats in engineering courses which they never applied for. There are also complains that AICTE has denied fresh approval to some colleges even after following all the required norms. Due to these reasons the state government is unable to estimate correct number of seats available in engineering colleges. Government has decided to send officials to AICTE New Delhi, to seek clarification regarding college wise correct number of seats which are included in EAMCET counseling. It is believed that AICTE will release a statement on July 12 regarding correct number of seats in engineering colleges of the state.

Secretary A P State Council for Higher education Dr. Raj Shekhar Reddy has to say that it is not yet officially confirmed as to how many seats are available in engineering courses in the state while there are reports that 40,000 to 40,000 seats have been added to the already available 2.85 lakh seats. He says that ‘we cannot start counseling on the basis of unconfirmed reports.’
