Patna, February 21: After the gruesome killing of an Executive Engineer in Auraiya allegedly by a ruling Bahujan Samaj Party MLA goons in December 2008, another Executive Engineer of the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department has sent his resignation following harassment by a ruling party MLA.
Executive Engineer Shiv Das, who is presently posted in Etawah, has sent his resignation letter to Chief Minister Mayawati and other concerning official on Friday last complaining threating calls by BSP MLA Bhim Rao Ambedkar representing Lakhna Assembly seat.
The engineer said the MLA threatened him on his official mobile phone for not installing tubewells in MLA’s field in the district.
Though the state government has denied that they have received any letter from the engineer but have started investigating the charges of the engineer against the Legislator.
A sources in the state Irrigation Department said here today that the state headquarter is yet to receive the resignation letter from the concerned Executive Engineer so far.
But a preleminary investigation has been started to find out the grievances of the official and the charges made against the MLA.
On the other hand UP Engineers Association president A A Farooqi said here they have asked the Kanpur chapter of the association to probe into the charges of the member.
Earlier on December 24, 2008, BSP MLA from Auraiya Shekhar Tiwari and his goons battered to death PWD Executive Engineer Manoj Kumar Gupta when the latter refused to pay them money.
Presently the MLA along with his supporters is in jail for alleged role in the killing.
