Engg student held for sending abusive messages

Cyberabad Cyber Crime police have arrested one Syed Ismail Zabih, 21, of Malapally in Nizamabad for harassing a woman by sending abusive text messages and obscene pictures to a woman from Miyapur through WhatsApp, a cross-platform mobile application.

The victim from Miyapur lodged a complaint with Cyber crime police stating that she received abusive text messages and obscene pictures between December 7, 2014 and December 27 through WhatsApp from mobile No. 8801633031. Even though the woman did not respond to his messages, he continued to harass her. Based on her complaint, a case was registered and investigation was started.

It was revealed that the accused Syed Ismail Zabih, an Engineering final year student from Nizamabad, found the mobile number of the complainant written beside her name on the seat of a bus. He tried to initiate conversation with her by sending messages to her through WhatsApp. When she did not respond, he further harassed her by sending more abusive text messages and obscene images to her mobile phone. Recently, when the accused moved to Mehdipatnam for his dissertation work, he was apprehended from his hostel by Cyber Crime Police. Two mobile phones were seized from him.

The case was investigated by Mohammed Riyazuddin, Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime PS, assisted by Sub-Inspector G. Shekar Reddy, under guidance of S. Jayaram, ACP, Cyber Crime PS, Cyberabad and supervision of Dr B. Naveen Kumar, DCP (Crimes), Cyberabad.

Cyberabad Commissioner of Police C.V. Anand appreciated the work of the officers in detecting the case and arresting the accused.
