Vijayawada, July 09: A 21-year-old student, pursuing B-Tech, allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room here today.
Police said Siva Prasad, studying in Usha Rama Engineering College at Telaprolu, near here, hailed from Kadapa District in Andhra Pradesh. No suicide note was found near the student’s body, police said, adding the reason for taking the extreme step by Prasad was not immediately known.
The hostel management had informed his parents.
Post-mortem will be conducted only after his parents arrived here. The body was kept in the Government General Hospital Mortuary, police added.
