‘Enemy cannot harm Iranian solidarity’

Tehran, April 14: Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the US and Israel cannot break the unity among Iranian people through terrorist attacks.

“The mercenaries of the US and Israel cannot harm the unity and solidarity of the people in this area (Sistan-Baluchestan Province) through their blind acts of terrorism,” Vahidi said on Wednesday.

“Those who carry out terror attacks and kill innocent people have no ties to the Sunni faith or Islam, because Islam is the religion of kindness, compassion and logic.”

In December 2010, a terrorist attack took place at the Imam Hussein Mosque in Chabahar, where people were commemorating the martyrdom of the third Shia Imam, Hussein (PBUH).

At least 38 mourners were killed and more than 89 others, including women and children, were injured.

The Pakistan-based Jundallah terrorist group claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.

Jundallah has carried out numerous bombings, assassination attempts, and terrorist attacks in Iran.

Its ringleader leader Abdolmalek Rigi was arrested by Iranian intelligence forces in February 2010 and executed in June on 79 criminal counts, including armed robbery, bombing operations and armed attacks on police and civilians.

Rigi stated in his confessions that he had dealings with US government operatives and was promised unlimited funds and resources for “waging an insurgency” in Iran.

Iran says the perpetrators behind the Chabahar terrorist attack were trained and equipped by foreign elements beyond the country’s eastern borders in Pakistan.
