Encroachment begins again at Masjid-e-Alamgeer despite status quo

Hyderabad: The encroachment began again at Masjid-e-Alamgeer at Khanamet, Hitech City which was stopped earlier by the Waqf Board after the encroachers dug the ground to lay cellar. However the residents now allege that now the pillars and iron rods on the pillars have been raised by the encroachers.

Deccan Chronicle has quoted Mr. Mohammed Javeed a resident of Khanamet as saying, “The encroachment on the Mosque land was going on earlier and was dug to lay the foundation. But with the intervention of Waqf board and revenue department the works were halted. Lately when I was returning after the morning prayers I noticed that the works were again in progress and this time iron rods were erected on the foundation pillar.” Javeed went on to say that “Trucks were moving in and out of the site and iron rods were placed on the ground. This is waqf property and belongs to the mosque. It’s a serious concern and the Waqf board should immediately look into the matter and protect the land from encroachers.”

When contacted, Mr. Mohammed Saleem the Waqf board chairman assured to look into the matter immediately. He informed that the encroachment was halted with the help of police and revenue department, however the matter went to court and the court ordered status quo. He further revealed that even the chief minister of Telangana had promised to safeguard the land from encroachers.
