Encroachers asked to vacate in 48 hrs

Hyderabad, June 17: At last the government swung into action and served an ultimatum to the illegal occupants of Badehshai Ashoorkhana at Patherghatti.

They have been given 48 hours to ‘peacefully’ vacate the premises.

“Otherwise, stringent action will be initiated as per law,” warned Hyderabad Collector Navin Mittal.

The marching orders were given after Mr. Mittal visited the Ashoorkhana along with P. Chenna Reddy, Director, Archaeology and Museums and other revenue officials on Tuesday in response to the High Court’s directive.

Conceding the demand of the encroachers, the Collector asked the Bhadurpura Tahsildar to take appropriate steps for allocating government houses for the families residing for past several years in the monument on the basis of ration cards and other relevant proof.

Premises inspected

Mr. Mittal, who thoroughly inspected the premises, asked the auctioneers and the illegal occupants to remove within 48 hours all the sheds and material dumped therein. S.M. Subhani, advocate commissioner appointed by the High Court, was also present during the inspection.
