Sports and Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud today instructed the officials to tap the rural talent through regular sports meets and tournaments and training in districts and villages.
Presiding over a review meeting on sports wing, which is inclusive of Youth Affairs department, Padma Rao directed the officials to prepare proposals for sending a team to participate in Haryana Youth Mela to be held on January 12 next year. “The officials of Sports should shoulder responsibility of tapping the rural talent and offer them transparent services as that of other welfare schemes being implemented. He also asked them to encourage youth to shine in various events of games and sports.
The State government was ready to promote sports in a big way to win medals at the national and international levels, he said. In the wake of formation of new districts and compounded with some problems of new offices and accommodation, the Sports officials should resolve their issues through the district Ccollectors”, he said.
Sports Chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy, Secretary B Venkatesham Goud, Managing Director Dinakar Babu, Youth Affairs Department Managing Director Abdul Azim, government advisor Paparao and OSD M Rajeshwar Rao were present. (NSS)
