Hyderabad: Filling in the details of the encounter of the four accused in Hyderabad’s Veterinary doctor’s rape and murder case, police sources confirmed the accused attempted to run.
According to reports, the incident took place around 6:30 am when the accused were taken to the site of the offence for the reconstruction of the scene of the crime as part of the investigation, a senior police official told news agency PTI, Quint reports.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has confirmed the encounter and stated the “accused were killed in encounter in wee hours”.
“They (accused) snatched weapons from police and fired on police and tried to escape… police fired in retaliation in which the four accused died, while two policemen were injured” said a senior police official.
The four accused in the case identified by the police earlier were Mohammed Areef (25), Jollu Shiva (20), Jolly Naveen (20) and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu (20).
Victim’s family happy over justice served so soon:
Reacting to the encounter, the victim’s family said they were “happy” that the culprits were punished.
“We were shocked when we heard about it in the morning but we are also happy that justice has been served so soon. We are happy the culprits got punished,” the family told The Quint.
Accused’s Family was informed this morning:
Accused Areef’s father reacting to the encounter news said: “They are saying he has been killed in an encounter. We got to know this morning only.”
While his neighbour alleges the incident was a “planned” one.
“All this has been planned. How can the police just kill all four of them? We do not believe it is an encounter,” he said.
Mohammed Areef was the prime accused among the four identified and arrested said Cyberabad Commissioner V Sajjanar.
A case was registered by the Police against all the four accused have been registered under Sections 376 (punishment for rape), 302 (punishment for murder) and sections of the Nirbhaya Act.
