Mumbai, July 05: Emraan Hashmi is one of the few actors who has kept delivering at least one big success every year. Last year it was JANNAT and this year it is RAAZ – THE MYSTERY CONTINUES. Still, why isn’t his PR machinery on an overdrive to blow the trumpet?
“Well, that’s because I firmly believe that media hype for any actor lasts only for a year or two. Your PR could go on an overdrive, have you all over the place but then there would be an equivalent number of detractors who would try to pull you down. I don’t want to be in that business. Instead I like doing successful films and play my part. I am here for doing good movies and thankfully I have TUM BIN and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI happening in quick succession. That’s enough”, replies Emraan Hashmi.
I haven’t over priced myself
Still, doesn’t he feel that an altogether low profile, in spite of a solid box office standing, could have him out of sight?
“But then some sections of media are also hyping stars that do not have box office successes”, pat comes the reply, “Courtesy their PRs, they come up in press because of controversies and stay on for some time. Later, when things start going good, they may have something new generated. But are they delivering at the box office?”
He is happy though that press has been supportive of him all this while?
“My audiences as well as critics have acknowledged that my career has only seen good progression over the years and that’s publicity enough”, he says, “As long as my act gets me better projects and better roles with good movie making houses, I am content.”
