Hyderabad, January 18: Unidentified persons attacked employees of a financier-cum-wine shop dealer and robbed them of Rs 33 lakh near Kothaguda in Madhapur late on Sunday night.
The incident took place hours after a driver was robbed of his car at gunpoint and police suspect the stolen vehicle might had been used in the robbery.
Police said Raju Yadav of Madhapur runs finance business and also has a syndicate of 19 wine shops at various places in the city.
Raju Yadav hired a car driver, Hareesh Chary, and two agents, Devender and Madhu Prasad, to collect money from the wine shops on daily basis.
Last night, around 9.30 pm, the trio set off in a Maruthi van and reached Toli Chowki to collect money from Yadav’s shop there.
Then they went to shops at Narsingi, Gandipet, Manikonda, Chandanagar, Nizampet and other places and reached Kothaguda. They collected money from the shop at Kothaguda also, the 17th one, and set off towards Kukatpally.
After travelling few kilometres, a silver colour India car with registration number, AP 28 AD 2339, overtook their van at Jayabheri Silicon Towers and later intercepted their vehicle.
Three persons came out of the vehicle. One of them damaged the front glass of the van with a knife, attacked the employees and snatched away the cash bag containing Rs 33 lakh and fled away.
The attackers were reportedly in possession of a fire arm. Police registered a case and are investigating.
A few hours before the robbery, unidentified persons attacked a driver and stole away his Indica car near Shilparamam.
Police suspect the same persons might have been involved in the robbery and used the same car in the offence.
