Los Angeles: Actress Emma Stone has been signed up to star in a biopic based on Rose Marie “Rosemary” Kennedy, who was the eldest sister of US President John F. Kennedy.
The film titled “Letters from Rosemary Kennedy”, which will explore the life and final days of its title character, an intellectually disabled young woman who was subjected to a disastrous lobotomy at age 23 that left her unable to care for herself, will have Stone portraying Rosemary, reports ew.com.
Written by newcomer Nick Yarborough, the film will explore the time when Rosemary Kennedy was abandoned by her parents after the procedure of lobotomy, hidden away from her siblings and the public for decades at an institution in Wisconsin. She died of natural causes in 2005.
Allard Cantor and Jarrod Murray are co-producing with Steve Golin, Doug Wald, and Richard Arlook.
Stone was last seen in “Aloha” and “Irrational Man”. Her other upcoming movies include the musical romance “La La Land” and the Billie Jean King biopic “Battle of the Sexes”.
