Emirates Airline to strengthen Kerala operations

Thiruvananthapuram, October 08: Dubai-based Emirates Airline is planning to expand its Kerala operations by adding nine more services per week by Dec 1, a senior official said here.

The airline’s weekly operations out of the state will go up to 37 from 28 now, Asha Subramanian, sales manager of Emirates in South Kerala, told reporters here.

“Today we operate six flights out of Kozhikode and from December 1, it would be 11. Similarly, the number of flights we operate from here will go up to 12 from eight now,” Subramanian said.

The airline will continue to operate 14 flights every week out of Kochi, the official said.

Emirates began its operations from here in February 2006 and in December it would be the leading foreign airline operating from the state with 37 flights every week from the three airports in the state.

“With the increase in the number of flights, the total cargo carried from the state would go up from 340 tonnes every week to 440 tonnes,” said V.M. Dinesh, cargo manager of the airline.

The airline connects India to over 90 destinations in 60 countries and their net work offices across the world do promote Kerala tourism.
