Uttar Pradesh government today decided to provide more facilities like medical and transport to political prisoners, who were arrested and jailed under Maintenance of Internal Security Act during Emergency from 1975 to 1977, called as ‘Loktantra Senani’.
“Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has decided to provide more facilities to Loktantra Senani. Besides, pension of Rs 10,000, they will now get free medical and trasnsport facilities too,” cabinet Minister and SP spokesperson Rajendra Chowdhury said.
There are 6,000 Loktantra Senani (fighter for democracy during Emergency) in the state. They will now be able to travel with one helper, he said.
An act would be formulated to provide more facilities to them, Chowdhury added.
