London, February 22: Singer Elton John is under fire for saying that Jesus Christ was gay, in an online interview. After his comment, angry netizens made nasty comments about his statement. He was targeted by users of the popular micro blogging and social networking site Twitter as well.
In the article, Elton John says, “I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man, who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel.”
His remarks haven’t been taken kindly by his fans and critics alike. One critic says that, “John is now the authority on Christ? Jesus Christ was as gay as Saddam Hussein is alive.” Another fan was so offended by his comments that he said that he wouldn’t listen to Elton John’s music again, as Elton spoke so disgracefully about his Lord. Other Christians are also very angry at his remarks. They are of the opinion that Elton John shouldn’t speak on topics that he doesn’t know about. Some also go to the extent of saying that they will pray for him, so that he can see the right way in his life.
