Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarthi and MP Lagadapati Rajgopal clarified an elevated corridor would be constructed on NH 9 near Kanakadurga Temple only after completion of work on Inner Ring Road. Addressing a joint press conference with Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal and VGTUDA Vice-chairman GSRKR Vijay Kumar here today, the Minister explained the construction of elevated corridor would be started only after the completion of work on Inner Ring Road. He said Rs 130 crore was sanctioned for the construction of inner ring road and works worth Rs100 crore completed. Work on 200 meter length of inner ring road at Payakapuram was halted due to litigation and added efforts were on to reach out-of-court settlement with the land owners. The whole project would be completed in six months. He said the flyover on railway line at Ramavarappadu is being constructed to connect NH 9 with NH 5.
Mr Parthasarathi informed the Centre had granted Rs.1,500 crore under JNNURM scheme and Rs 1,800 crore for the construction of Outer Ring Road. Mr Lagadapati Rajgopal made it clear work on construction of elevated corridor would not begin until the traffic on NH 9 was diverted to inner ring road.
