Ropar, December 16: The Manmohan Singh government is committed to providing electricity to every home in the country by 2012, Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said here today.
Sincere efforts are being made to achieve the target in stipulated time, he said after inaugurating the Hydro Power Training Centre at Nangal.
To meet the growing demand for power in the country, the government has fixed a target of capacity addition of 90,000 MW power by the end of 11th five-year plan, the Minister said.
He announced construction of an indoor stadium and a modern auditorium at Nangal.
