Hyderabad, June 6: Election of speaker and deputy speaker by dividing the house indicates that the government’s belief in democracy has faded away. Declaring the incident occurred the day before as undemocratic Mr. Ashok Gajapati Raju said that the elections of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker were against the established procedures.
Mr. Raju said that the government had no respect for the democracy and called upon all democrats to condemn the attitude of the government. Playing of the National Anthem, allowing members after the quorum bell changing the announced procedure for voting were all violations of the Constitution, he alleged.
Criticising newly-elected Speaker Nadendla Manohar for adjourning the House indefinitely without taking any decision on the notice issued for introduction of No Confidence Motion by TDP, he described Speaker’s decision to adjourn the House indefinitely as `black spot in the history of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly.
