Election fever rages in all party offices

Hyderabad, October 30: The city offices of major political parties which wore a deserted look till yesterday have suddenly become the beehive of activity. This follows the announcement of polls to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by the State Election Commission (SEC) on Wednesday.

Frenzied political activity has begun at the city offices of Congress, Telugu Desam, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), Praja Rajyam, Bharatiya Janata Party and Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) as nominations from candidates for 150 wards in GHMC limits will be filed between October 31 and Nov 6.

The Greater Hyderabad city Congress office near Exhibition grounds is now crowded with leaders and party workers.

Several Congress leaders with their supporters are thronging the city office to submit their letters of appeal seeking tickets to contest as Corporators.

“As I have been serving the party since the last two decades, the senior leaders should recognise my selfless services to the party and allot me a ticket to contest the elections,” Sridhar, a party member from Yousufguda told Expresso.

Another aspirant from Sanathnagar constituency, Srinivas, with a large number of his party workers gathered at the Congress office and demanded a ticket.

“I don’t want this chance to slip by and I am will try hard to bag a ticket,” Krishna, a TDP worker from Somajiguda said.

He made his presence felt at the TDP city office near Indira Park with a large group of supporters.

Another TDP activist, Prakash, wanted TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to give party tickets to youngsters since such a move would enthuse party workers and infuse fresh life into the party.

The MIM headquarters at Dar-ussalam portrays a similar picture as do the TRS and BJP party offices.
